Update From the Gardens

The persistant hot and dry continues to push some crops forward while haltering others.  Green beans, summer squash, kale, and lettuce are at a stand still.  Sweet corn is only a week away from harvest, the sweet peppers are coloring up quickly now, the jalapenos are getting their signiture striations, and the heirloom tomatoes are at peak ripening.  The shelling beans are just on the verge of picking and as the plants start to die back, they reveal their beautiful striped pink and white pods.  Our stand of dry beans looks great this year and it seems we'll be harvesting those way earlier than we would expect.  The cauliflower is also pushing the early side in reaction to the hot and dry weather and some heads are already peaking out from within.
