Update from the Gardens

We got Rain!  Just when it seemed like plants were going to fade into dust, we got rain.  This may be just what the gardens need to move on into summer mode.  We've got baby squash on the summer squash plants along with the flashy yellow blossoms.  Potatoes have flowered and look very strong.  The new round of cut lettuce has come into it's own and we have done a lot of turnover plantings in our early high tunnel.  We are transitioning from picking peas from our high tunnel to picking peas in the garden.  Shelling peas are just around the corner, along with fennel.  We are in the peak of strawberry harvest now and this rain will be key to enable the berries to size up.  I can't imagine what sort of growth the next couple of weeks will bring with some moisture in the soil!
