Update from the Gardens
The rain at the beginning of the week last week was very timely and has enabled many of our early crops to size up. Our second planting of radishes, spinach, and kale are all ready for a first harvest. Scallions are starting to look like scallions, and heads of lettuce are starting to fill out. With decent windows of sunny dry weather in between rains, we have been able to stay on top of weed control in all of the gardens. Now we are beginning to scan our eggplant and potatoes for Colorado Potato Beetles. If we find them before they lay eggs and squish any eggs they have laid, our plants will have it easy! Any eggs we miss become hungry larvae, ravenous for as much foliage as they can eat.
